Trails that start at the door.
From a gentle creekside stroll to the high crest of the Huachucas.
From the inn
The Ramsey Canyon Preserve (The Nature Conservancy) trailhead is a short walk from the inn. The main Preserve trail follows the shaded, spring-fed creek past the old homestead and up to overlooks of the canyon — an easy, rewarding walk and some of the best birding on the property.
Where the Preserve ends, Coronado National Forest trails take over and climb into the high country. The Hamburg Trail continues up the canyon toward the crest, connecting to a network of routes for stronger hikers who want elevation, views, and solitude.
Brown Canyon Trail
For a change of pace from the forested Preserve, the Brown Canyon Trail is accessible just a couple of miles down Ramsey Canyon Road. It leads into a quiet, scenic canyon with high-desert vegetation, and an optional spur takes you to the old Pomona Tungsten Mine site.
Good to know
The Ramsey Canyon Preserve is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. It's open March 1–October 31 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and November 1–February 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and charges a small entrance fee. Parking there is limited, so being able to walk over from the inn is a real advantage. Carry more water than you think you'll need, watch the weather during summer monsoon afternoons, and give wildlife room on the trail. We're happy to point you to a route that matches your time and energy when you arrive.
